Autofindr’s Trade Me integration gives New Zealand buyers a way to organise vehicle searches and review matching adverts. Start with the car or light commercial you need, select a suggested location and inspect the regional search configuration. Use the resulting shortlist to decide which sellers to contact.
Think in regions and districts
Trade Me’s location scope is organised through regions and districts rather than a custom radius. Review the area selected by Autofindr and do not expect a kilometre number from another marketplace to create the same search boundary.
A candidate elsewhere in the country may involve a substantially different collection journey. If travel between islands is part of your plan, investigate transport and inspection arrangements before treating a lower asking price as a saving.
Check the exact vehicle description
Confirm model, year, body, transmission and stated kilometres. For a van, distinguish a cargo configuration from passenger seating or an existing conversion. Imported vehicles can also require careful confirmation of the specification described in the advert.
Do not infer precise trim or equipment from a broad model name. Keep unknown fields unresolved until the seller provides useful information. A search can find a relevant candidate even when its details are insufficient for a price score.
Understand the advertised amount
Read how the seller is offering the vehicle. An opening auction amount, a buy-now figure and a full asking price do not necessarily describe the same purchase opportunity. Confirm the amount and sale arrangement relevant to your decision before comparing candidates.
For a HiAce shortlist, record configuration and usable space alongside price. A lower figure for an unsuitable layout is not a practical comparison for the van your work requires.
Plan the next step before travelling
Ask the seller about gaps in the advert and confirm current availability on the original page. Arrange inspection and collection through your own buying process. Autofindr does not authenticate the vehicle or complete the transaction.
After buying, create a register entry using the agreed amount in the purchase currency, actual date and itemised expenses. Keep original documents separately. If you search Facebook Marketplace as well, preserve the same buying requirements but expect its area controls and available vehicle details to differ from Trade Me’s regional structure.
