You can use the Autofindr register for a vehicle found somewhere else. Create a manual purchase entry, identify the vehicle and enter the actual purchase date, currency and agreed amount. The record can then hold itemised costs, notes, a target sale price and the completed sale.
Start with the purchased vehicle
Give the entry a description that you will recognise when several vehicles are in the register. Check the available make, model and year information instead of copying an old advert without review. If a detail is uncertain, do not turn a guess into a recorded fact.
For purchases started from an Autofindr match, review the imported vehicle details too. A listing snapshot describes an advert; it does not establish that every detail was correct at purchase.
Enter the agreed amount and actual date
The advertised price and agreed purchase price can differ. Use the amount that belongs in your purchase record. Keep collection and repair costs separate when you plan to itemise them, so they are not accidentally counted twice.
Enter the real purchase date even if you are adding the record later. This affects holding days and retention. A vehicle purchased six months ago should not appear to have been acquired today just because today is when you opened the register.
Add costs and next steps
Create individual entries for inspection, transport, repairs and preparation as applicable. Use notes for short reminders such as arranging work or checking an invoice. Retain original receipts and sensitive transaction documents in your own appropriate storage.
A target sale amount belongs in planning. Leave completed sale fields unset until a sale occurs. If the vehicle is for your own use, it can still have a purchase and cost record without inventing future proceeds.
Check before relying on the summary
Review the currency, date, purchase amount and cost total after saving. If you discover a duplicate entry, resolve it rather than treating both as separate purchases. If an edit conflicts with another change, reload the current record before trying again so one version does not hide newer costs.
Autofindr’s normal register retention is two calendar years from purchase, shortened by a continuous subscription lapse of 90 days where applicable. Older manual purchases therefore need particular care: use the app’s expiry information and export records you need to keep longer. Adding a record later does not reset the age of the purchase.
